Robert Dennis’ choral works have been performed by I Cantori (Barcarola), Cerddorian (Man in the Moon, The Golden Peacock) and the New York Women’s Chorus (Bow and Bend). His commissions and performances include works composed for the Denver Project (Seven Prayers), the New York City Opera (East of the Sun—West of the Moon), the Jubal Trio (Peter Quince at the Clavier), the American Brass Quintet (Blackbird Variations), Calliope (When Winter Comes), and the Lincoln Center Institute (Northern Lights). Pennsylvania Station, for orchestra, has been performed by the Cleveland, Chicago, and Louisville Orchestras. Mr. Dennis’s theater and film music include scores and incidental music for productions including the New York Shakespeare Festival, the Arena Stage, the Gutherie Theatre and Circle in the Square. A musical based on Horatio Alger stories, Bound to Rise, was commissioned and performed by The Medicine Show Ensemble Theatre. Three of his eight scores composed for Pilobolus were performed on the PBS series Dance in America. Mr. Dennis is currently preparing a CD of works he has written for The Western Wind which include Man in the Moon, Of a Rose, Ballad of the Harp Weaver, Psalm 30, The Golden Peacock and Barcarola. |
